The Shocking Truth About Artificial Sweeteners They Don't Want You to Know

In the early 70s when sugar awareness reached its peak and health consciousness expanded, scientists spent long hours in scientific laboratories across the country in search of an alternative.

Completely by accident the chemical Aspartame was discovered by G.D. Searle in 1965. In fact, he was developing a drug to treat peptic ulcer disease when he unconsciously licked his finger and noticed it tasted sweet.

Aspartic acid and phenylalanine were the sources of this artificial sweetness. This freak discovery evolved into one of the most dangerous and controversial food additives in human history.

Searle submitted aspartame for FDA approval in 1973 and received a hesitant go-ahead for dry substances only, which was to include a warning label stating that it contained phenylalanine--a risk agent to those with the genetic disorder called phenylketonuria.

Well, we all know how long that lasted. Before long, diet sodas and other alleged sugar-free liquids were filled with aspartame, and there are new products entering the market all the time under the guise of "diet" or being "sugar-free".

Anyway, moving on...

Now, we could get bogged down in theories of corruption among corporations, laboratories and political fat cats that care more about kickbacks than public health safety, but we won't.

Let's choose a different battle. I want to talk about the dangerous side effects of aspartame, which is what artificial sweeteners such as Equal® and NutraSweet® brands are.

I want to share the many serious side effects of these artificial sweeteners. Many of you are probably seeing a doctor for complaints that will simply disappear when you stop using artificial sweeteners and products containing them.

Depending on the amount and length of use, aspartame toxicity includes the most critical symptoms, which are death, irreversible brain damage, birth defects, mental retardation, peptic ulcers, hyperactivity in children, severe depression and suicidal tendencies.

Many patients who use artificial sweeteners are misdiagnosed and are being treated for ailments they don't have because aspartame mimics the following illnesses:
